Smart Technology Laboratory Template Instructions.

Task 1: create a new UWP application

Name this new application yourname_smarthome

2.Run the blank application to make sure your laptop works – press green triangle to run On the internet find two pictures, one of a living room and one of a bedroom, they should be in format PNG

This is an example of a living room picture

Save both pictures to your desktop name the living room one livingroom.png and the bedroom, room2.png.

Now drag these two images into your project assets folder shown above.

Select your project

4.Then select project from the top toolbar then  - add new item.

Make sure this is a blank page and name the page bedroom.xaml  - please name it exactly like this, bedroom.xaml

Now do the same, create a new item – name it livingroom.xaml -please name it exactly like this

5.Go to MainPage.xaml and delete the code.

Paste the code that I have provided in the help document titled xaml shown below.

6.Go to the Mainpage.xaml c# code, click Mainpage.xaml.cs

Delete all code

Now Paste the c# code I have given you names Main.

Change name space from App4 to the name of your project. So if your project is called Emilio_ smarthome for example you delete App 4 and replace it with Emilio_smarthome.

6. Switch to Mainpage.xaml and do the same, change where it says App4 to the name of your project.

Go to living room.xaml page and select all xaml code and delete it.

Replace with the living room code I gave you in the help document

Now like before change App4 to the name of your new project.

And this one too.

At the bottom of living room code change the highlighted text to match what you have named your image for living room, if you have named it livingroom.png the you do not have to change it.

Now do the same for bedroom, go to bedroom.xaml page and delete all xaml code

Then paste in code from help document but remember to change app4 to your new project name.

And change here too

At the bottom of bedroom code change the highlighted text to match what you have named your image for bedroom, if you have named it room2.png the you do not have to change it.

To finish run the application make sure local machine and x86 is selected at the top.
